University Scholarship Program Policy
Okunsanya Foundation
1. Program Overview
The University Scholarship Program is established to support academically capable but economically challenged students in pursuing university education in Nigeria. The program seeks to invest in future leaders of integrity, character, and service by providing sustained financial assistance and mentorship.
2. Number of Awards
- Five (5) scholarships shall be awarded per school calendar year.
3. Scholarship Value and Duration
- Each scholarship is valued at N180,000 per student per academic year.
- The scholarship is renewable for Four (4) academic years, subject to annual review.
- Maximum award per student: N720,000 over four years.
4. Eligible Institutions
- Nigerian Universities (Federal, State, or Private Universities).
- Priority may be given to students attending public universities, subject to committee discretion.
5. Student Eligibility Criteria
- Indigene of Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
- Christian actively involved in their parish or church groups.
- Preference will be given to members of St. James Anglican Church.
6. Academic Eligibility
- Applicant must be a final-year secondary school student or recent graduate.
- Must demonstrate strong academic performance with consistent passing grades.
- Must be in good disciplinary standing at their secondary school.
7. Financial Need
Applicant must demonstrate genuine financial need.
Indicators:- Low household income.
- Orphanhood or single-parent household.
- Verification by school, church, or community leadership.
8. Character and Conduct
- Applicant must demonstrate good character, integrity, and responsibility.
- A recommendation attesting to character is required from a principal, teacher, or priest.
9. Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Completed scholarship application form.
- Secondary school academic transcript.
- Personal statement outlining goals, challenges, and future aspirations.
- Letter of recommendation (school principal, teacher, pastor, or community leader).
- Proof or verification of financial need:
- Parent's Profession.
- Parent's Income.

10. Selection Committee
- A scholarship selection committee shall oversee the process.
- The scholarship founder/donor shall serve as a committee member.
- Responsibilities include application review, scoring, interviews (if applicable), and final selection.
- The committee will consist of members of the Okunsanya Foundation Board.
- Recommendation will be given by the Head Priest of St. James Anglican Church.
11. Renewal Criteria
Scholarships are renewed annually provided the student:
- Maintains good academic standing at university.
- Remains in good disciplinary standing.
- Submits annual academic transcripts and progress reports.
- Failure to meet requirements may result in probation, suspension, or termination of the award.
12. Disbursement of Funds
- Funds shall be disbursed once per academic year.
- Funds will be paid directly to the university of choice.
- Proof of payment will be shared with the student.
